A new online resource provides a natural alternative to tackling hay fever symptoms - www.hayfeverhealing.com

Hay fever sufferers admit that their symptoms give them the perfect excuse to shun summer chores, according to a new survey . The survey by One Poll for natural healthcare specialist Nelsons reveals that 56 per cent of sufferers use their hay fever as an excuse to avoid mowing the lawn, while 47 per cent admit to avoiding gardening at all costs. 25 per cent say they use their condition as an excuse to get off dog-walking duties, while a further 13 per cent admit to dodging cleaning.

Hay fever affects 15 per cent of the population and experts believe global warming is leading to extended flowering and with it an increase in pollen levels, making the hay fever season last for longer each year. But while hay fever may have its advantages, the reality is that 60 per cent of sufferers are concerned about having to rely on antihistamines to get them through their daily lives, with 72 per cent saying they would prefer a natural alternative.

A number of research trials into the use of homeopathic remedies to treat hay fever have shown a significant improvement in hay fever symptoms and homeopathy does not cause the side-effects often associated with traditional hay fever treatments, such as drowsiness and a dry mouth. However, 64 per cent of those polled said they were unaware that homeopathic remedies could be used to treat their symptoms.

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which is based on treating the individual with highly diluted substances given in mainly tablet form. Homeopathic remedies can not only help to tackle the symptoms when they happen, but can be used to aid the body’s own system of healing.

To support the millions of Britons suffering from hay fever this year, natural healthcare specialist Nelsons has launched a new online resource www.hayfeverhealing.com which features jargon-free, practical information and advice on how homeopathy can help. Written in association with Registered Homeopath Laura Kenyon LCH, RSHom, the online resource includes an interactive question and answer area where sufferers can log in their hayfever symptoms which are then matched with suggested remedies.

Laura said: “Few hay fever sufferers are aware of homeopathy’s benefits or indeed, that it can help them at all. We hope that the information will demystify this useful form of complementary medicine and provide symptom-specific advice that will be invaluable to everyone.”

Cristal Sumner, Chief Executive of the British Homeopathic Association says: “This survey clearly shows that people are keen to find a natural alternative to conventional hay fever treatment and homeopathy is the obvious choice. It’s safe and effective, with no side effects.”

Paula Ross, Chief Executive of the Society of Homeopaths, says: “It is worrying that 60 per cent of those surveyed are concerned about having to rely on conventional hayfever treatment to get them through their daily lives during the hay fever season. The relief is that homeopathy can offer a very real alternative and we would encourage anyone interested to contact a fully qualified and registered practitioner for more details.”

If hay fever sufferers are experiencing a number of symptoms, the combination remedy Nelsons® Pollenna™ can help.
