http://sussex.tftmag.co.uk/images/logos/logo_8102WomanSleeping.jpg A-list couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, a.k.a ‘Brangelina’, are the top celebrities’ UK men and women have steamy dreams about, new sleep statistics reveal.

The Time for Bed survey shows that one in eight British men regularly fantasise about Oscar nominee Angelina Jolie, whilst they are sleeping. One in seven UK females prefers to doze off thinking of Angelina’s partner Brad Pitt.

Actress Jessica Alba (12%) came a close second with the boys in a poll to find out what keeps people awake at night, conducted by Crampex, the only non-prescription treatment for muscle cramp at night.

Heartthrob Johnny Depp was next on the list for the girls – 11 per cent of UK women admit that they just can’t help dreaming about the actor. One in twenty women also said that the Sweeny Todd star was the male celebrity they would most like to get between the sheets with.

Surprisingly, five percent of British women would like to share their bed with chat show hosts Ant and Dec. One in 20 females would choose Top Gear presenter Richard ‘The Hamster’ Hammond to snuggle up with. One out of 20 men wanted to get under the covers with the Cheeky Girls.

BBC radio host Terry Wogan was voted the man that women would least like to cuddle up to. Men nominated Janet Street Porter as their bedroom nightmare.

People in the UK wake up during the night on average four times a week, with 14 per cent saying a strange dream or nightmare regularly wakes them from their slumber. A third (33 per cent) are woken due to needing to ‘spend a penny’ at night, but the number one cause of sleep disturbance in the UK is health related. Over 13 million Brits have health conditions such as stress and painful muscle cramp which keep them from dozing off.

Leading sleep expert Dr Chris Idzikowski, from the Edinburgh Sleep Centre said: ‘Common dreams such as those involving celebrities can symbolise a pursuit for fun and happiness. Dreaming about being chased and anxiety dreams can be a metaphor for insecurity and often signify difficulty in confronting problems and feeling out of control.

‘Both dreams and nightmares can be caused by anxiety, emotional conflicts and health problems that interrupt sleep.

‘There are many ways you can help alleviate these. First of all tackle any health issues that may cause you to wake up suddenly in the night, such as muscle cramp; write down your worries before you go to sleep so that you can deal with them in the morning; and try to make your sleep environment as calm and peaceful as possible.”

Crampex tablets help to treat and prevent nocturnal muscle cramp, one of the main causes of interrupted sleep. Crampex contains calcium gluconate to help correct any calcium deficiency that could lead to cramp, cholecalciferol to aid calcium absorption and nicotinic acid to improve poor peripheral circulation. Crampex costs from £4.45 for a pack of 24 tablets and is available over the counter from pharmacies. Always read the label.
